THE ORGANISATION OF OUR CONGREGATION

The congregation of The Sisters of Our Lady of Amersfoort  is an international community of about 386 religious sisters, living and working in The Netherlands , Malawi, Indonesia and The Philippines.

Our congregation was founded on the 29th of July 1822 in Amersfoort, through the joint co-operation of:
·         Father Matthias Wolff, SJ
·         Maria van Werkhoven (Sr. Ignace)
·         Mathia Stichters (Sr. Matthia)
·         Martha Pijpers (Sr. Martha)
·         The Roman Catholic Society
In connection with the history of the founding of congregatio, we regard St. Julie Billiart as our spiritual mother (Decision of the General Chapter 1994 p. 9)

We use our official congregation names are:
·         Zusters van Onze Lieve Vrouw van Amersfoort (in The Netherlands)
       The number of the professed sisters: 115 sisters  
·         Suster- Suster Santa Perawan Maria dari Amersfoort / SPM  (in Indonesia)
       The number of the professed sisters: 204 sisters (included in The Philippines)
·         Sisters of Our Lady of Amersfoort (in Malawi )
       The number of the professed sisters: 26 sisters

The mother houses of the provinces and region are:
·         The province of The Netherlands - in Amersfoort
·         The province of Indonesia - in Probolinggo, East Java
·         The Region of Malawi - in Blantyre
